Serving Veterans and the Community

Always open to the public!
Join the Legion Family!

A long-standing tradition of service since 1920...
The American Legion is many things to many people.  For veterans,  it is a place to gather in the camaraderie of shared experience.  For members of the Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion, it is a place to show gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our soldiers and their families.  For non-profit organizations, it is a meeting place and source of financial support.  For youth organizations, it is a place for service opportunities and a source of funding.  For community members, it is a place to meet family and friends, old and new.

Official Statement of the William R. Witty American Legion Post 37

Our American Legion building is a location in which people gather and linger for official and social purposes.  These actions pose challenges for physical distancing of employees, guests, and members, especially those at risk of severe illness from COVID-19.  For these reasons, we will continue to do our part to ensure the safety of our American Legion community by remaining closed.

We are preparing to open by developing a COVID Preparedness Plan that complies with Minnesota OSHA Standards, MDH, and CDC guidelines in the workplace for customer facing businesses.

We are also completing the building improvement opportunities that were put in place while the building is vacant.

Finally, we are working with a consultant from the Small Business Development Center to create a business plan that is both sustainable and resilient if we should be required to close again.

This does not prevent our membership from continuing to serve the community in ways that allow physical distancing and align with the four pillars of the American Legion founded in 1919; Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth.

Stay Safe,
 05/17/2020
